Since 1961, Providence has been dedicated to providing effective, comprehensive services and day programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our unique services and programs are person-centered and specially tailored to meet each individual’s specific needs and goals. With effective and comprehensive care, we work to promote personal growth, as well as a greater sense of independence.

Providence is proud to provide the greatest care and services to people here in Maryland. Our greatest goal is to assist those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in becoming confident, independent, and more successful in all aspects of community life.

Providence’s services for adults with developmental disabilities focus on the individual’s unique needs and goals for their life. We believe a rich, full life is possible with access to all the opportunities available in one’s community and work to help each individual gain meaningful community roles.

Person-Centered Planning

Person-centered planning operates much in the way it sounds: a method of discovering a person’s goals and creating a plan to reach those goals. Person-centered planning has shown a demonstrable impact on people’s lives. The approach does this by assisting them in gaining greater levels of autonomy and improving overall quality of life by providing the tools and planning needed to make goals more attainable.

Day Services

Day programs for adults with disabilities offer people opportunities to socialize and enjoy themselves in a safe, encouraging environment. Activities include crafts, games, healthy exercise, learning and education, counseling, and community trips. Providence also extends day services to senior citizens, offering opportunities to stay active and socially engaged.

Community Inclusion

Community inclusion focuses on helping people through healthy social interaction, learning basic life skills, and creating a fully integrated environment. Our Maryland community is a beautiful one, and the people at Providence are encouraged to be an active part of it in order to create a better, happier future for themselves.
