Supported Employment Services

We believe that everyone who wants to work can and should have a competitive job in their community. Earning a living is one of the most important ways people can gain the independence to live the way they want. A paycheck allows you to pay bills, purchase things that you need, pay taxes, and even save money for the future. With money earned, people can then make important decisions about the direction of their lives.

The prevailing mission of Providence is to provide people with mentoring and the tools they need to live their best possible lives in their communities. And we believe in employment first, that employment should be the first option to consider when defining one’s life goals.

Through person-centered planning, every person at Providence can chart their own path, design their future, and contribute the way they want in their community. Matching each person’s interests, strengths, and abilities with employment opportunities ensures success at work and the chance for people to build the careers they want in their community.

Our supported employment team of community mentors work to help people gain the competitive jobs they want to have in the community. This includes providing people with opportunities for job discovery and career exploration, job-skills training, resume development and interviewing skills, job shadowing and internships, as well as on-the-job supports.

Our Beliefs at Providence

At Providence, we are motivated by the following beliefs:

  • We believe, that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can be contributing and engaged members of their families and communities.
  • We believe, that, with the right placement and support, all people can work in meaningful jobs, earn competitive wages, and contribute to the world around them.
  • We believe, that community is meant for every person, regardless of their ability, and every person should be afforded the opportunity to live, learn, and work in their community.
  • We believe, that our Direct Support Staff is the foundation of our work.
