Providence Announces Holiday Plant and Décor Sale
All sales benefit adults with developmental disabilities
Glen Burnie â Providence, a non-profit organization that serves adults with developmental disabilities, today announced its 2011 Holiday Plant and Décor Sales and holiday hours at its horticulture Greenhouse and Gardens in Arnold, MD. The holiday plant and décor sales benefit Providence’s programs and services as well as the growers, potters, and woodshop participants that make the products.
The public can purchase their holiday items at Providence’s Jean Bradbury Building, 370 Shore Acres Road, Arnold, MD 21012, Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM â 3:30 PM.
Additional weekend holiday hours will be Saturdays from 10 AM â 3 PM and on Sundays from 10 AM â 2 PM. Weekend hours begin on Saturday, November 26, 2011 and last through Sunday, December 18, 2011.
“The plants and décor from Providence are top quality and will enhance any indoor or outdoor space,” said Temple Zito, manager of Providence’s horticulture program. “The best part about purchasing these holiday staples from us is that it directly benefits those we serve: adults with developmental disabilities. Each of our 30 growers earn paychecks for their work.”
Providence Executive Director Chuck Coble added, “These are products with a conscience. Purchasing Providence products helps provide those we serve greater independence in their lives. Anne Arundel County is incredibly supportive of the work Providence does and it is our hope that that support will continue with our upcoming holiday sale. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy some Providence holiday cheer at this annual event.”
Tom Wright, Director of Production, added, “We will be showcasing the great products made by our participants. The holiday sale is an opportunity for the public to come to our Greenhouse and Garden Center, see the beautiful work our participants do, and hopefully go home with décor and gifts for their friends and family.”
Items offered will include: poinsettias, pine wrapping, fir trees, mums, pottery bowls, mugs, plates, children Adirondack chairs, paper towel holders and children’s toys, bird houses, and many other items. All items are hand-made, hand-crafted, or hand-grown by Providence individuals.
